Alan Jenkin

Olney Brass regret to announce the death of their former conductor Alan Jenkin on Saturday 13th December. Alan joined the band at the end of the 80s and led the band for the next 20 years. During that time, as conductor and head of Brass at the Milton Keynes Music Service, he taught many pupls, developing their playing and promoting Brass playing in the area. He led the band (then called Stantonbury Brass) to the National Brass Band Regional finals – conducted the band at the opening of Milton Keynes Theatre, and at the Bernardos Charity concert in the Royal Albert Hall. In july this year, despite being ill , he came along to the Weston Underwood fete to receive an award for 50 years membership of the National Association of Brass Band Conductors. He chose to conduct “I’ll Walk with God.
On Friday 12th December, several band members played outside his room at Willen Hospice, where he was being cared for, he died the following day. Our thoughts are with his wife Jean, son Michael, his wife Danni and their son Leo. God bless Alan -and thank you.
